Nanaimo Yoga Classes

The Wellspring is a Yoga studio where Nanaimo families can find inspiration through education, laughter and of course Yoga!

At The Wellspring we believe that knowledge is an incredibly powerful tool. But in this digital age sometimes the amount of information available to us can be overwhelming – especially when it comes to our health! Our workshops and seminars are designed to help you cut through the masses of information and gain a clearer understanding of what you need to know so you and your family can be healthy & well.

Our Yoga Philosophy:

The Wellspring is an oasis of restoration, calm, and empowerment through knowledge for Reed Family Wellness patients and the surrounding community.

Our Instructors

Dr. Jess

Jessica Reed, BA/BPHE, DC (Slow and Flow Yoga|Little Ones Yoga)

Jessica Reed, principal of The Wellspring, has made her home and practiced chiropractic in Nanaimo for over eleven years.  She earned her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and Prenatal Yoga certificates in 2014 after many years of personal yoga practice. She loves that the pursuit of knowledge within the world of yoga is unlimited, just as in the field of chiropractic. To that end, she has envisioned a space that will serve to enrich the lives of its visitors, whether it is through yoga or through its many health-and-wellness-related workshops.

Varenka

Varenka Schwartz (Sub)

Hola! My name is Varenka. I was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to Canada when I was 24. I  lived in the Kootenays for 6 years and currently live in Nanaimo.

I received my 200 hour teacher training on Classical Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga through the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga as well as my Prenatal Yoga Teacher certification. I have always been drawn to work and play with children and I got certified through Rainbow Kids Yoga to share yoga with children and their families. I have also done several workshops and trainings for Acroyoga and Yin Yoga.

I also have a 300 hr teacher training in Traditional Tantra Yoga from Shri Kali Ashram in Goa, India. I am a 500 hr Registered Yoga Teacher through the Canadian Yoga Alliance and a Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Teacher. I have taught for 7 years and ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOGA!

My full time job consists of managing a child care and out of school care programs. In my free time, I share my life with my husband Mike. We play Acroyoga, enjoy the outdoors, hike, slackline, canoe in the ocean, and cook all sorts of Mexican, Japanese and other delicious foods! There are still many more things I want to do and learn and I’m excited to share part of this journey with you.

Laura

Laura Jesson Love (Wednesday Evening Hatha|Prenatal|Tiny Ones Plus One)

A natural born yogi, from philosophy to physical activity, Laura is always striving for balance in her life and empowering the same in others. After 5 years of personal practice she took her first training in Moksha Yoga, followed by PreNatal Yoga with Janice Clarfield, and Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark. One strong source of inspiration woven throughout has been the influence of Michael Stone, a Psychotherapist, Yoga and Buddhist Teacher, author and activist. A recent training in meditation with Michael Stone has become a valuable tool for herself to integrate into daily living, as well as sharing the teachings with others in classes and workshops. More recently, Laura completed her Yoga Outreach Core Training in trauma sensitive yoga and Mindful Self-Compassion with Kristen Berube.

Finding more peace through stillness in meditation, deeper relaxation and restorative yoga has become an essential part of her teachings and practice. When not on her mat, Laura takes all she learns while being mom to two beautiful boys and creating more love in life. Outdoors on Vancouver Island is where she thrives and comes fully alive while biking, swimming, camping and breathing in the ocean air.  Finding focus and clarity with a sense of challenge is what she needs to stay inspired.
